Kenya just took a major step toward digital sovereignty.
On 30th April 2026, ICC Kenya’s Chairman joined the commissioning of the SecureID Limited Kenya plant — the first and only globally certified card embedding factory in East and Southern Africa. The end-to-end facility manufactures both bank cards and GSM SIM cards, marking a decisive shift from imported digital solutions to local, secure production.
The ceremony was led by Kofo Akinkugbe OON, Founder and CEO of SecureID Limited, with Dr. Habil Olaka, EBS, Chairman of the Financial Inclusion Fund Advisory Board, as Chief Guest — alongside other dignitaries.
